attached in bad spot

I know it's bad to try to dislodge when they attach, but is there any way to entice them into letting go? Do they try to move on their own after attaching?

I ask because I got a small maxima from divers den. I placed in sand in a lower light area to acclimate to the lights. Tried to move it today, after only the first week it attached to some base rock I didn't even know was there. This base rock is completely buried and is the base for my entire structure so moving the rock can't happen.

The plug it came on detached when I pulled it out the bag, I was thinking that's a problem, buy i guess not.

It will suck if he is stuck there forever. You can barely see him except from the side.

take some tank water freeze it in small baggies, place/hold the baggies next to the clam's foot. that's the best way. otherwise you gotta cut it off, which can be tough if you can't see the foot.

How long would you have to hold the bags near its foot? I ask because this tank is deep and combined with my height deficiency, I can barely reach it without getting my face in the water. Lol.

But that sounds like a great trick! Thanks. I don't think where its at would be a good long term spot.

if you weight the bags with some rock, they'll stay and u can keep your face dry. ive never done the ice thingie, but it will usu work. prolly within 15 mins the clam should just loosen qand move on its own, which is when u place it wherever u want.
