Attaching Chili Coral

Hello,

I was instructed by the lfs to attach chili coral upside down using a rubber band. Will the foot eventually let go of the rock it is on and attach to the reef? When would i remove the rubber band? Just curious, thanks

I put mine off to the side so it's not getting direct light from my 14K MH and it seems to be doing fine. Had it for about 5 months now. I had it up top and it was doing fine and them someone told me to move it completely from the light so I moved to the bottom in a shaded area for about a week and it never opened up. Brought it back to the top and it opened up the next night. You do know it only opens at night ? I didn't know that when I bought mine. Doug

Rubber bands: if it not too tight, one frag attached to the rock in a several months, but the main coral- not. The other kind of chili had die-off under the band (I'm assuming that it was too tight or coral was too soft), now have two parts of coral, both alive, only one is attached.

Light and opening: may be there are different kinds of chili coral - I have 3 looking different and behaving differently. All are sensitive to even the medium light (27W over 6g), closing, only one still open, if the food is present in the water column.

May be there are more food in a new place, more food and flow?
