attaching coral

How do you guys attach corals to your live rock? Do you take the coral and rock out and pat them dry then epoxy or glue them? What about the coral that comes on rocks already. Do you cut the rocks to fit certain places?

You can go to home depot and pick up a tube of Aquamend. Aquamend cures underwater, so no need to pat anything dry. Some coral are different in how you attach them so it really depends on what kind of coral you're looking at.

depend on the coral.
what are you trying to attach
just asking in general. Like the epoxy it says to dry the items before applying so I was just curious how you guys are attaching things- what steps you guys take.

ya it just depends some softies wont like the glue and detatch anyway, but I use the super glue gel when a glue job is needed and dry the best I can.

what is in that? is it reef safe? never seen this at HD I'll have to look into that stuff.

Yeah I've used it ever since I started SW tanks and I've never had a problem with it. Cures super fast. I hate using super glue when I want to attach coral to rock. I hate holding the coral to the rock waiting to see if it's cured.

Aquamend you just cut off a chunk, roll it up for a minute until it turns completely grey, and attach it to the base of the plug, coral, or whatever its attached to and stick it on the rock. It takes me like 2 minutes total to attach a coral.

oh its an epoxy
I have never used epoxy before
I dont like how it looks like the coral is sitting on a white blob in just funny like that im a little OCD

Yeah it is. I just recommended it because I'm impatient and hate waiting for packages and Home Depots are usually easily accessible. Coraline will eventually hide the blob so it looks like part of the rock. I know what you mean though.

No LFS?

I do have a few that are epoxied but its still white on the edges:mad:

My LFS sell supplies at a pretty steep price or they just don't carry the items at all. But once I move to Lexington I'll have a better selection, hopefully. I think there's more horses than there are people where I live.
