Attaching Mag to AquaC Skimmer

I plan on building a stand pipe into my built-in overflow. This is pretty basic, but could someone please help me understand how to connect the pump to the skimmer? From the bulk head, (a) should the flex tube go straight to the pump, (b) then from the pump into the skimmer's valve? Is the gravity just not sufficient? I'm guessing that a ball valve would be place on the (a) connection. Any pictures would help also.

Thanks!

Is it best to just have the water fall into the sump's skimmer section and have the skimmer's pump pump the water into the skimmer? This would mean the skimmer drains into the same section.

I would not connect it straight into the pump, dump it into the sump, let the pump pull water in from the sump and pump it into the skimmer. If you get the correct mag pump for the skimmer, you probably will not need the valve, adjust the skimmer's collection cup height to the desired skim level. I had a aqua c that was modified so the flow went out the back side of the skimmer and overflowed into the next chamber of the sump, would that modification work for you?

Benny,
The AquaC EV model will require a lot of pressure that gravity can't provide. Like thegrun said, let the water from the overflow flow into your sump and use your Mag pump to drive the skimmer. The skimmer will drain into the same area, but the water will be cycled by the return pump. Use a larger pump for your AquaC EV skimmer to get better result.

i have my water falling into the first section of the sumpo wich contains rock rubble and my aquaC with a maxi jet 1200...

it performs well the way it is and where it is.
