attaching mushroom

I stuffed it into a hole and put a very small piece of rock (the size of a dime) over a part of it for three days. The shroom is not attached and expanding over the rock. Others have had success with turning the shroom upside down and putting a rock over it for a couple of days.

I use rubber bands. I make an x right over the mouth, but make sure teh band is a bit loose, otherwise it'll slowly cut right through the shroom. Works pretty well - I'd say 2 out of 3 times the shroom takes to the rock. I know others use bridal vale.

I've used bridal veil netting to hold it in place over a rock. Hold the veil down with rubber bands. You can also put some rubble in a small container and put the cut shroom in the container and let it attach on its own.

+1 on the small container with rubble. You can do this with multiple shrooms at once to so you dont have 473 rubber bands all over your reef.

i use a pond container. those that are being used to put waterplants in ponds. they are perforated and let waterflow through (not sure if this word is spelled right:rolleyes:). Then i put some rubble in it and hang it just below the surface of the tank. This way they get moderate flow, no detritus builds up in the rubble and they don't float out of the container.

why did my shroom drop off of the rock and left one baby behind is that the way they do or is there something wrong this is the second one that has done this

When my shrooms move across a rock they usually leave pieces of their foot which turn into shrooms. they do not always detach but occasionally they do.
Ditto on the small container with rubble and the bridal veil netting to hold it in place over a rock. I have used both methods with success.

i have always used some kind of netting over a small rock. that way it wont float away in the current some people use the rubberband but they have it to tight and it will split the mushroom if its to tight. that whys i prefer to netting mething.

did the netting and small rock seems to attaching at lest it looks like it will wait for a week or two before I remove the net

I've placed it onto a piece of LR and covered it with a glass bowl to keep the current and fish from knocking it off. 2-3 days and it's attached. Don't completly cover it though, I left a little space between the substrate and glass on one side for some current, very little though. Sound ghetto, but it worked well.

When you guys place the netting over the mushroom, do you do it tightly enough so that it stays open even after the lights go out? The one I just bought is small and keeps closing itself and then tries to open but it isn't able to cause of the netting I guess...

i just stuck a blue one in a crevice between 2 rocks. relocated the smaller rock and it was attached yesterday, which is about a week since ive had the shroom

wow, that makes it sound so easy. :spin3:

my mushroom is so stubborn..it doesnt stay anywhere...but im gonna be stubborn too.
thanks! :D

Naturally allow shrooms to grow onto rubble is always the best method, very difficult if you have any kind of flow in the tank. I dislike rubber band as the shroom will get cut up by the constant tension on the band. Try needle and cotton thread, run that needle through a couple times and loosely tie the thread to a rock.

Good luck.

i bought a ton of loose mushrooms when i started my reef they just flew around until they found spots i also have a ricordia that wont attach it just sits around
