attaching mushrooms help??

I have a couple mushrooms in my tank, two are attached to pieces of live rock but the third isn't attached to anything but the sand. It ends up getting wedged up under the rock because of water flow. I'm trying to figure out how to attach it to the rock so it will be out in the open and not in the dark under the rock. Any ideas?

You could try putting it on a piece of live rock and then use a rubber band or toothpick to keep it in place. Some people use a plastic mesh of some sort. I haven't had good luck with the rubber bands, personally. The mushrooms seem to slime their way free and go back to floating.

just save that one for me lol.

Tell you what when you get your stuff set-up you can have this one if you want.

I collect Ricordia and when I get them in, sometimes, they are not attached.

The method I prefer using is netting. In fact, I went to Hobby Lobby and purchased a yard of cheap bridal netting (be careful not to get netting that is dyed); cut it in strips and attached the ricordia to the rock. There are three factors to consider. #1 you have to wrap the netting to assure it won't escape. They are pros at the escaping act during the night! lol #2 Don't wrap it too tight as they will expand once they lose their attitude; and #3 BE PATIENT...lol it takes time. Mine takes a week at least... Sometimes two.

Another method is putting them in a glass jar with loose rubble at the bottom of the jar... and set it in your tank and wait for them to attach.

Hope this helps you...and good luck!

I just attached three by putting them in a plastic container ont he bottom just big enough to fit the rock you are attaching them to. Line them up where you want them and try to keep away from floe so they won't blow off. Mine attached in about four days.
