Attaching Probes

How do you have your probes in your tank / sump?

I see some people put them in their plumbing. One person said to put then on the suction side of your return pump.
Is this okay?
What probes can you do this with?

Thanks

I've used free-floating, floats, suction cups and I now use a magnetic probe holder. They all work very well; take your pick.

I use the magnetic probe holder for 3 probes in my overflow box( though I currently don't have the magnets in cuz they are ridiculously strong) . My other 3 probes dangle in the sump.

I would say most people put them in their sump, though I know some people put them in the overflow of their DT. I would not put them in the plumbing. I can't imagine any good reason to do that, and I can imagine a good reasons not too - reduced flow, easier to get something clogged, etc. etc.

no I mean in the pipes, they use a TEE and a 1/2" NPT Black Nylon Cable (Probe) Gland

I was told one guy did it to keep water flowing over the probe to prevent build up.

I understand that concept and that is pretty much what I did but I have been looking for better ways to do things.

See the probes on the right IN the plumbing?
