Attaching SPS Frags

Hey, its me again.

How do you guys recommend attaching SPS corals to LR. I bought two tubes of Duro Quick Gel which contains Cyanoacrylate and 1 tube of Loctite Stik'n Seal Waterproof all purpose adhesive which contains Hexane and Toluene. This is my first attempt at attaching coral, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I use either super glue gel like you have or 2 part epoxy (aqumend from home depo) If the frag is small and light enouph just a big glob of superglue gel and stick the base of the frag in and hold a few mins out of water. When you put it back in the water it will skim over instantly and finish curing. The frag should encrust over the glue in time. A heavy or big frag, like frogspawn I use 2 part epoxy but you still have to hold it till the epoxy sets which I ussually do under water. Hope this helps!

I WOULD NOT use the Stick and Seal stuff. Those ingredients are pretty nasty stuff and I would think it would probably nuke your tank.

Yeah, tolulene is not good stuff.

Glue to a small spacer rock first, then glue the spacer rock to the LR in the tank, would be my recommendation.

Ditto what everyone else said. But, I would also mention to get the frags in the water fast after they have superglue on them. If they are acropora the tissue will burn fast with superflue on them. The burned tissue can also cause RTN. Some other SPS species are also prone to burning.

I've been lucky on that one... I usually let them sit for a few minutes after gluing to let it set before trying to move them (SPS, LPS and zoas/softies that can be glued). Good point, though Chris. I must have some luck somewhere that differs from bad...

Oh good to know about the acros. May be some reason why mine all seem to mysteriously die. But a well encrusted one 6 months later I guess can't be blamed on the glue!
