The last two days inhale dropped r/o water and vinegar together in my tank. I am using 80 ml of vinegar, and about 200 ml or so water. The the total process of dripping happens in about 2.5 to 3 hours. Question is, my fowlr sump is very basic. Basically one baffle, left side skimmer and sick, right side return pumps( external pumps)

Once I start dripping, and even long after, there seems to be suds floating at the top of the return section. Inches from where the drops hit the water.

Is this bad? If so, and way I can make it dilute into the water so no suds remain? Not sure If it's a reaction, or nothing at all.

Thanks

That's probably just some bubbles due to organics in the vinegar. I'd ignore it. Are you using white distilled vinegar?

White distilled. (5%) sorry for typos, using iPhone.

It lingers for a long time. Didn't know if it was
Similar to calcium precipitating and never able to get into solution again.(hope not)

I am now going to use a glass bottle, afraid vinegar would melt plastic, since I am only diluting it 1 part vinegar , 2 or 3 parts water (btw does it matter if i dilute in half, or with ten gallons of water, and of day, all original measures vinegar mls end up in tank, correct?)

Also glass is nicer because it's heavier and won't fall in when it runs empty

The dilution level doesn't matter much in your situation. The dosing speed might be easier to tune with more dilution, but I'm not convinced that fine-tuning the dosing speed is important.

I'd just ignore the bubbles, personally.

Understood. I'm just easing it in speed wise to not tank ph. My pinpoint monitor is shot after getting wet, so I have no idea how much it's bekng effected. So far almost two weeks in, nitrates appear to be leveling odd, if not dropping a bit. Definitly not worse than what it was.

I am at 80 ml now, and after a few more days of no bloom, may venture into 120 ml.

Hypothetically, in a fowlr, no coral or invert, what may be he ceiling? With heavy eating fish, is it possible I'll be in the 200 ml a day eventually? I'm not looking for uln, maybe around 20 or so.

Thanks

When you dilute the vinegar below 5% bacteria may grow in it before it's dosed.

As for how much I'd say somewhere around 0.8ml per gallon of system water is about all I'd use after amping up slowly. Personally. I don't go higher than 0.6ml in my heavily fed and heavily populated mixed reef system.

All of that dose is in tank from bottle less than 4 hours after they are mixed and drip is started. Read it was ok for day or so, no longer.

Looks like I may end up between 95 and 128 on those numbers. If I arrive there at week 3, and have no blooms or other sides, is that ok, or are other dangers lurking?
