So I had posted a video in the anemone and clownfish forum and had very few response opinoin wise to whats happening with my 2 yr old clowns that have been together for about a 1.5 yrs .. Since then , I have decided Im going to get 2 more back occ to re pair my older 2 with , I was wondering if my clowns now are not pairing then obviously there both female or no ? But I see no mout locking and they sleep in the same spot at night wierd i know .. so whats the best way to pair them back up with two more .. do I buy these 2 both smaller then the 2 I have ? I would like to be able to match them up with mature males but how do you get a for sure male .

Heres a video of the 2 I have nows behaviour which makes me think they need to be split .

they have been showing this behaviour for about 5-6 days now but thats as aggressive as it gets ... no fins are torn up , no mouth locking.... they sleep in the same spot at night . they have been together 2 years and now this is happening . Im lost , I thought for sure they were a bonded for the past 1.5 yrs bought at the same time different sources .

If they have been doing that for only 5-6 days then they are shorting out dominance and are finally pairing up sexually. JMO The black's take much longer for some reason and have read that many times. If I were you I would hold tight and see if one become totally dominant then that behavior will stop. But she will always let him know who's boss. Again just my opinion.

sport507 I appreciate your opinoins very very much , I just wasnt sure if this is normal behaviour between the 2 after theyve paird but for so long but what you say about being paired sexually makes sense only time will tell i guess .

I had my breeding pair for a year and they got alone like an hand a glove. Then they started fighting not to the point of tairing fins but about like yours. Once she showed him who was boss about 6 weeks later they started spawning.

your putting a smile on my face

I’m not saying that your pair will do what my done, all fish are different but one thing is certain. We both know that something has change between them being that they are tussling with each other and up to this point that didn’t happen. What I saw in your video look like dominance pairing behavior to me. Hope things work out for you and I have a hunch it may.:reading::reading:
