ATTN: Everyone dealing with o0xerog0o at the swap, READ THIS!

I sent out this email to everyone I'm dealing with on Saturday, but I have a feeling the emails aren't going through for me...

I'm setting up a 10 gallon tank at a hobbyist table on Saturday. In front of my tank, I'll have my name printed out large enough that you will see it with no problems. As much as it will kill me to not walk around and browse all the other frags, I will be near my table until all my stuff is gone. In the event that I do meander away, either my wife or my buddy will be there to make the trade.

I will be wearing a black TOOL t-shirt with red graphics on it, and if that's not enough to pick me out, my cell phone is (740) 317-9134. I hope to have everything picked up by 2pm, if you need more time, please call me and let me know. If I haven't heard from you by then, the frags are available to the public. Thanks again to everyone, and I'll see you up there!

Mark - I'm thinking the same thing about fragswapper email, and Adam said he was mailing me from the site which I've not received. Odd. I'll contact the site admin, I'm the PMASI fragswapper admin.

It's not just you. There is a issue. I tried to send an email to everyone, but incase you didn't get it, here is the jist of it:

It has been brought to my attention that the email facility at FragSwapper.com is not sending out personal emails. We have determined that the error is caused by the site's attempt to put YOUR email address as the FROM portion of the email to allow people to easily use the REPLY button of their email program to respond. This is a recent issue that we will need to work with our host to resolve.

Until a permanent fix is found all outbound emails will now user a generic email address as the FROM. This is the same address used when automated emails go out like request correspondence. If your message requires return correspondence from the receiver you will need to include your email address in the message or the user will need to go to the website and use the email facility to respond. If they use REPLY the email will go to the empty abyss of invalid emails. :)

Also, do not use double-quotes in your email body it will most likely fail. We have turned off 'error trapping' in the email process so if ANYTHING goes wrong you will see a message on your screen that probably won't make sense to you, but makes sense to me! :) Let me know if you get one!

Thank you for using the site. If you have any questions feel free to email me directly.

I wonder how long it was down? I'm pretty sure it was working a few months back so there is no reason for it to fail (I didn't change anything). I do know that many SPAM filters toss out emails that have a "FROM" address that doesn't match the server it came from. :( ..but if I don't do it I get people who hit reply and get me instead of the person they intended. :)

Wow, while we have someones attention - fragswapper reaallly needs some rudimentary search functionality on listings, even if it just did a word search on the titles of listings for a particular event.

FragSwapper.com is due for a complete overhaul, but personal time constraints and the fact that I host the site at a loss just for hobbyists to use makes it tough for me to be motivated to re-write it. :) It's actually already the second edition of the site since the first one only worked for the club I happened to be president of at the time.

I am getting some sponsors now, so please support them because the more sponsors I get the more incentive I have to re-write what has been an out of pocket expense for me for over 5 years!

And bnmir you are actually the FIRST person to my knowledge to make such an obvious request of a search feature. Duh! :) Most people ask for ways of ordering more than one item..that seems to be the most common.

I'm always up for suggestion, I have a lot banging around in my head if I ever rebuild but at this point I don't plan on adding anything to the existing code. The last time I did it broke something else. :)

One of the biggest enhancements I'm looking at is to allow uploading of photos since that is now the most incorrectly used and most questioned feature. I need better control of size and such.

Anyway...I'm just glad the site is getting used more, although some folks have gone back to threads (I don't know why). If you know clubs that could use it please pass the site along. I can't really post here on RC because it would be a violation of the user agreement short of buying an ad (not happening). I can't even mention it in my profile/signature!

I've always thought it would be cool if, when people posted their items, there was a more extensive drop-down menu that they could categorize the listings as (LPS, SPS, zoas, softies, equipment, etc.) Also, if it were possible to browse the listings by price, I think many people would get more benefit out of that...

On a side note, if I were to re-send my mass email out to everyone that I'm swapping with now, the emails would go out, correct? I'll just edit it with my email address in it. Thanks for the site, and thanks for listening to our suggestions. It's definitely an awesome tool for all of us swappers!

How are you mass emailing? If you're doing one email at a time you should be fine. My mass email failed because the server couldn't handle 500+ emails in a short time, but 1 at a time is working.

Let me put it this way...if you don't see an error message and it says "email sent" then you're good on my side of the world. Whether their email address is good or a spam filter sucks it up is out of my control. :)

Well, yeah, just a copied and pasted email sent out one at a time is what I meant. Not necessarily a mass email, but not a personalized one... Thanks again

Update....looks like I will NEVER be able to use YOUR email address as the "FROM". The comes from my host directly.

So I guess I'll leave it as is for now until I figure out what to do.
