August Meeting and Raffle - DON'T MISS THIS!

I hear ya Big D :)! That's why I think selling the food n drinks cheap would generate alot of loot for the club. Anyone wanna help?

Thank God tickets will still be for sale....I have a twenty burning a hole in my pocket!

I could possibly bring another grill and pop up tent. We will probably need shade out there.
 
Good idea Audrey. We all fall apart when you go on vacation and can't think of things to do like you do. I will help in any way I can or that is needed. I don't know if this meeting will be the best to catch up on old business but we can wait and see.
 
I think this meeting will have a great turn out and be a good time to enjoy seeing old friends and meeting new people. I promise not to go on vacation until next year! John, now you are in trouble, sounds like you just volunteered to help me!!!
 
Yes Audrey I did do just that. Call me and let me know closer to the date and we will figure something out. But some comments here from the people that plan to attend would be nice. It would be nice to know if we dare make anything to try to do that or not.
 
hey stupid question, but besides meeting everyone, what actually goes on at said meeting? what do a bunch of fish geeks do on a sunday together? just want to know a bit more what to expect. EITHER WAY IM DOWN, HAHA.
 
Well, there is usually alot of standing around and BS-ing and we prefer the term "fish nerd" not geek haha. Anyways, I am still waiting for some input on meeting content from my wonderful fellow chair holders, aka Mr. Prez, Vice Prez, Treasurer, Members at Large. Demonstrations are always welcome and encouraged, so if anyone has any ideas post them here please.

Some topics we should probably revisit are the website update, new logo, fundraising and sponsorship, just to name a few. It will probably be a good time to go over the general club and forum info since there will be alot of new faces around with ticket stubs in their hands. I am going to draw up a little hand out to explain the general info of the club and forum to hand out.

We know that the raffle drawing will be part of the meeting. Should we do it at the middle or end? Come on guys, let's not go into one the potentially biggest meetings of the year without a game plan.
 
well the drawing towards the end of course, and please enforce the must be present to win(maybe). also i tell my friends im a fish geek, didnt know the correct term. haha

I will take care of buying the items to cook and setting up the "snack bar" along with some help from John and my kiddos. I think selling the food at a reasonable price is the best option since alot of the people attending do not know about this forum or thread. It would be hard to feed an unknown amount of people for free. If anyone would like to donate any baked goods, their service or anything else, please let me know.

I agree with you, make everyone sweat and listen to our meeting talk! And good point, YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN. But if they aren't present, then they won't know that we threw their ticket in the trash :)

Oh, and please make sure your friends know the proper term :lolspin:
 
may i ask what the difference in the term is. since i dont have any real fish friends i didnt know there even was the term.??
 
I'm joking, I'm joking!!! Nerd is just the term I have always used. I never refer to myself as a geek, that's the only difference....my interpretation.
 
Audrey please be sure and let me know how and when I can help you with any of this. If it doesn't turn out well then so be it. We will know not to do it again. I think a hand out with some general info about STARS and maybe the website is agreat idea.
I would really like to know what is going on with the website.
 
we will have to vote to reinburse you for buying all the food. not fair to put that all on your shoulders. i am working to get the family to go but with young ones it may be hard to keep him busy for too long. but i want to show up and help where i can.

P.S. we only refer to audrey as a geek when she is not around.
 
Justin do you really think a vote like that could not pass? That is a vote made in special meeting called behind closed doors between officers, as simple as that. Our by laws do say that type of meeting can be called by either myself as president, the board of directors or by any six members.

I really think it is a great Idea and am willing to help in any way Audrey needs. If something like this will ever work it will work at a meeting like this that should have a big attendance.

Mr. Treasurer Please correct me if I am wrong here.
 
apparently i missed something in the past (having had time to look at the club forum hahaha) but im looking forward to this meeting, and my tank should be looking pretty good by then, of course the build will be updated. will there be cold beverages at said meeting? haha. im willing to take or help out with anything needed as well.
 
i agree it could be at a closed meeting, but i wanted to bring it up to make sure she didn't feel like it was all on her wallet. of course the clubs wallet is pretty empty!
