I got mine from Barrier Reef Aquariums about 3 weeks ago. It's definitely one of my favorite pieces...

not to flame or anything its a beautiful sps but i cant believe people are paying such high prices for these 1 inch frags i remember when you could pick up nice frags for 25 a pop know it just seems like stores are becoming chop shops getting mother colonies in and chopping them up and over pricing the frags from 50 to 200 for a inch come on i believe in making a profit but theirs a line u know if you would just refuse to pay the prices they would come down in price if i make ya mad just ignore me but that just my opinion and not everyone feels the same way and i respect that.:furious:

This is 10x worse with LPS and zoos. Can you imagine paying $100 for a single zoo polyp and hundreds for an eye or three of a chalice? I paid $80 for a 2" frag of this coral from Mr.Coral. I guess I got what I paid for since my piece has poor color at the moment. 2 months from now, assuming it does well, it will be fully colored and worth the $$ IMO. The way coral pricing is today, "high end" SPS have become the most affordable "high end" corals. I hate referring to a coral as "high end" btw:spin2:

lol i hate when they call a coral rare and jack up the price why is it rare is it the only one in the ocean um no their are more their the same color same species they like to go out and collect one color bring it in call it rare chop it and charge you 100 dollars for a inch. Then give it a year and the market is flooded with the same coral and they cant get 30 out of a 1 inch frag. thats why i like frag trades it keeps the coral in circulation keeps the price down and everyone gets enjoy this hobby .

It is what it is.

You dont have to pay the price if you dont want. Nobody is forcing you.

I bought this piece at MACNA from unique corals cause i liked it. Nobody twisted my arm. I liked it, I can afford it, so i bought it. I bought a 2" pice for $85.

This is a long drawn argument about what we should charge for stuff. This can be argued in many forums. Some like art and pay millions for someones piece. I wouldnt put a Picasso in my house if you payed me!! They are ugly. Yet others pay millions.

It is what it is! :)

Like anything the price is determined by supply and demand. It will come down in price as supply increases from people growing it out and selling frags. It's like that with any unique coral. I don't mind paying the price for a nice coral as long as I know I'm getting what it's claimed to be.

As far as being rare, it might not be rare in the ocean but it is rare in the aquarium trade otherwise we would all have it already, or at least I would.

By the time you have a frag I'll have a colony and will have made enough selling frags to pay for the piece I bought 3 times over. ;)
