Couldn't pass it up, don't see these everyday at the lfs.

Great pics of my favorite fish. He should live for years and never bother any tankmate he can't eat. They take a while to overcome shyness; but get very bold with a little time. These are bib, robust fish and love fresh shrimp and other fresh seafood; vitamins seem to really bring out their best colors. I have a couple (separate tanks) that are finger tame, they spit water through the cover-mesh through those blue teeth. Really scares little kids, its great. These are typical wrasse and will jump; be sure tank is covered. Good luck with him, you'll really enjoy this fish.

Do you feed all seafood or do they also take prepared foods?

I wanted some orange in the tank, thought about getting a flame angel or something...but my tanks are really too sterile to keep angels alive. I saw this one cruise out from behind a rock and my jaw dropped.

Looks nice! I love those blue shell breaking teeth! I got one about 2 months ago for my reef tank and so far I'm still happy I got it. People always pick that fish out first when they come to my house. I seen mine at a LFS the day they got it in and I did some research and was willing to replace my CUC as time goes on. I was told it was an Aussie which I don't think but for $75 I couldn't go wrong after I seen him eat. Mine also likes to eat Nori off the clip.

Paid full bore retail for mine, $170.

He's big and thick too, acclimated in one of PetSmart's "medium" critter keepers. Pretty much fills up it's width, which puts him between 7 and 8 inches.

Yeah you got a big boy there. Mine is still a young one and is about 4" and that was another reason I got him since he was small.

If it's Aussey, you got the deal of the year...They've been on sale at LA for the past 3 weeks, so I got 1 for my 450g reef DT...still in QT...can't wait to see him in the big tank.

I've read they can be difficult feeders to start...not this one. I think it just ate it's body weight in fish flesh. That mouth is no joke.

Man, that is one of my favorite fish. If I had the right size tank, I would give it a go. I had one about 10 years ago. Unfortunately, I only had a 90, didn't QT and it wiped out my tank with ich. Stupid me.

I love that fish. A real centerpiece.

The colors of marine fish are really striking, but this is one of the few I've seen that are on a different level. It almost appears to be lit internally.

The pictures are not representative of how it looks because they are all with the flash on. It's almost like that level of orange combined with that blueish gray tint should not exist.

I did not have a tank large enough to quarantine this fish, so I went ahead and put in it in the DT. Since adding a UV sterilizer I've had no issues adding fish directly to the DT, and it actually saved an Indian Trigger I was going to lose in quarantine. Naturally I'll keep my eye out for any problems, but I don't anticipate any.

The tusk picked out a nice cave and hid for awhile, but is now out cruising the tank. The other fish really look drab by comparison. Except for the PBT which also seems to possess that internal lamp.

Awesome looking tusk. I'm a bit jealous :D, working on getting my 150g FOWLR setup and one of these guys will be one of the few inhabitants. Getting close to water finally!

This is my first wrasse of any kind, so I'm wondering if it's normal for the fish to eat and then regurgitate it's food a couple of times before keeping it down.

It has figured out how to pick large pellets off of the bottom but won't keep those down the first time either.

Another "is this normal question." This is his favorite spot to hang out. Do they just lay around and rest like this? Hopped off the perch as soon as I fed, and took a pretty ferocious bite at me when I tried to move it off of the pump.

I guess it isn't much different from laying on the bottom and looking around. Maybe I should invest in some bunk beds for the tusk.
