Hey Mike, I'm glad you didn't think I derailed your thread :)

On a side note, looks like it's almost time for a split! I think that's perfect timing, a nice transition over to a semi-new build thread with nice plans of the upcoming home and tank ;)

im pretty sure he can rename the thread after it splits ;). although this will be a good starting point of the new monster build along with 203g rimless QT :D

Mike,

You mentioned that you're feeding more, have you noticed improvement in color yet?

And on a side note I have the bottle of generic gin I promised ya!

cbui2 - Actually, my original plan was to use the 203g for the frag tank, but that decision has been overruled. The tank will actually go to Clint (fishypets), which pleases me to no end. I am very excited to see how much better this tank will look in Clint's hands. If you saw his previous tank, you would know what I mean. He has the magic touch when it comes to SPS, and since he lives locally I'll be able to see it whenever I want. All I have to do is take him some generic gin and he'll let me come over.

fishypets - Thanks for asking, and yes, I have actually seen some improvement in the past few days :D . In addition to feeding more, I cut back the daylight photoperiod to 5 hrs/day for fear that I've been bleaching the corals. I also cut back my calcium reactor and alkalinity has been lowered from 9.3 dKH to 8.0 dKH, which is desirable when using ZEOvit. Lastly, I've been titrating up my dose of ZEOvit amino acids. I'm not sure which one of the above has been responsible for the improvement, or if it's a combination of all of the maneuvers, but I'm quite pleased. In addition to improved coloration, polyp extension has really improved. I bet I was just starving out the corals. The fish don't seem to mind the extra grub, either.

Dudester,

Did the PVC/Plumbing come with your tank from AGE?
Is it Schedule 80 or 40? Where did you get it?
I've looked at Lowes and Home Depot for stuff like this...

SUBV.jpg

But I can't find it there...just curious.

Chris, the fittings for the tank are all schedule 40 gray PVC, purchased from Savko on line. You won't find gray sched 40 at any HD or Lowes. I went with it only because I like the way it looks. But I really love those ball valves, they turn so effortlessly compared to the ones I've gotten at HD. The gray PVC pipe was bought from US Plastics, and the gray spa flex was from flexpvc.com.

Lowes does have gray schedule 40 PVC. Not the ball valves, though. ;)

Yes I found the gray PVC at Lowes, its Schedule 80 or at least thats what I found, next to white schedule 40.
I dont' know the difference, shows my ignorance there.
What is the difference?
But you are right, no ball valves.

Thanks Dudster, that answers why I can't find them at Lowes and Home Depot!

Now I know where to go, and I agree with you, it does look a lot better! For plumbing anyway...

You're right, it is schedule 80. Schedule 80 is "heavy duty" (thicker) PVC.

Nope, not necessary, and the inner diameter of sched 80 pipe is smaller than sched 40, which restricts flow. For me it's gray sched 40!

I'll work on that, Clint. I'd actually like to wait just a little bit until there's a more notable change in coloration, but everything is really improving.

Hey Dude,

I've been looking for a website or phone# to get into contact with AGE with no success. Wondering if you could help me out there?

Thanks!

Chris is right, but if that link doesn't work for you send me a pm and I'll provide you with the number of my LFS. They'd be able to hook you up with AGE.
