Austin's Innovative Marine SR-120

The SR80 seems more manageable. Mine is quite a beast.

The tank is quieter compared to my old 4x2x2 basement but not silent.

If you up the water level then you can make it near silent but then water gets around the filter sock so that sucks. I was thinking about buying a piece of acrylic and adjusting it so that I can raise the water level.

Tuncze 9011 Skimmer

Tuncze 9011 Skimmer

You said the Tunze 9006 is a tight fit. How is it on depth? The Tunze 9011 is the same length and width, but 2" taller. Do you think it would fit?

The issue is the cup. You need to find a rectangle cup. Since the cup is round it really stops with how adjustable it is in the tank. I will take a picture later tonight.

My LFS has a skimmer in their SR-80. I will see what they have running and let you know. Innovative is supposed to be coming out with a model but I don't know when that is happening.

I saw one of these tanks in person today at coral kings. Oh man I want one now. Wife would kill me though. Hahahaha. Just got the 40 breeder going.

hey great thread ive only seen arcs 80 with the bubble tip galore they are so sleek that my wifey is encouraging another setup :) do you have a different thread for your basement setup?? id love to see pics or even see it in real life im in Lancaster.. :)

I also bought a SR120 that will be here tomorrow. I haven't purchased a skimmer yet, but you said that the one you have you would not recommend? Has it gotten any better, or do you recommend anything? I spoke to a sales rep at IM and they said that their new one is coming in March, but you know how that goes with release dates. I'm leaning towards the 9011. Is the 9006 just not performing? Thanks for your advice.

3.1.14- Thoughts on the SR-120 tank, Now that I have had it for a few months.

PROS
-I like the shallow tank. Easy to work in.
- 6ft is great. I am surprised how fast it fills up
- Thick glass still rocks and it is well built
- RIMLESS- I looks so cool and I get a ton of comments
- Three Radions look good over it
- Lots of cabinets and shelves. a 12 gallon ATO bucket can easily fit in there

CONS
- RIMLESS- It is like a high maintenance girlfriend- lots of effort to keep her happy and this tank clean.
- Back Compartments- Horrible. I feel like the SR-120 did not get a ton of testing from design to mass production from hobbyists. Not a ton of space to work with (you think you have tons but it is a lie!). The pumps take up too much space. The Baffles don't work. If I reduce the water level to make the baffles work than it sounds like Niagara Falls and then the skimmer will not work correctly. Skimmers barely work at that level. So I keep the water level above the baffles & noise decreases.
- CORDS- I know there is little that can be done with this issue but the tank is rimless and clean so you should not have cords everywhere. This could be solved with some type of black acrylic top covering the back compartment. I may go to a plastics shop and have them build me a top.

Actually couldn't agree more. The baffles on mine are the exact same way, however I found that putting a little piece of foam over it helped tremendously.

By looking at your pics, I cant see your skimmer anymore. Do you still have the Tunze unit or did you switch to something else?
