Australian Elegance Closing up....?'s

LEDs For All

New member
So I recently purchased two Australian Elegances. I have them in my 125. My params are all on point with the exception of nitrates which are between 5 and 10 currently. The Australians are both on the substrate. They both are under the same led lighting. One is thriving, the other has been closing up. They are being target fed mysis. The don't have the same exact flow because they 6ft apart although I would consider them both under moderate flow.

Any ideas? They are different colors which I guess could mean different species???? They are def both australian elegances, the one that won't open is a neon green where the other is a darker green with purple tips....

Working in a store, I often hear the stories of the "Australian Elegance". Our joke now, what's the difference between an Aussie and an Indo elegance? ......... Honesty! I believe the species is the only in the genus, so color difference is just that. What you're experiencing is what I generally expect out of an elegance regardless of the high dollar location it has attached to it's name. Good luck with the other one.

The are both on the substrate. My tank is 24" deep however I have a 3" (fine) sandbed. They are placed in the sand. When open the flesh of the coral doesn't touch any rock. It lays on the sand only when fully open. I haven't seen any of my inverts or fish bothering them either. Im stumped.
