Australian Elegance

Hi,

I've been keeping an eye out for an Australian Elegance. But just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these corals from Australia in particular. I wouldn't mind paying for the price that they are asking for but are they as hardy as claimed? Any input would be appreciated.

I have one that from the LFS to my tank to now...roughly 3 months+. Can't say it is long term success but just to give you an idea.

I picked up a couple "fragged" elegance from thecaptivereef. They are both now absolutely huge and beautiful. Make sure the ones you buy are REALLY from Australia though. I'm having problems with my computer but I'll get some photos. I bought two to be safe, but there is no doubt they are going to be fine. One is going to another local. I had a thread about it, search elegance or fraggable here in the LPS forum. They are now solid green with pink tips.

Thanks for your response and pictures. Does it matter where you put these guys in the tank? I keep hearing that the ones from Jarkata are very sensitive to high lighting and was wondering if the Australian ones are the same.

I have a dual 250w MH with two 110w dual actinics on my 120gal.

The Australian Elegance should be fine on the sand bed in this tank to start with. In time they can adapt to very bright lights.

There is a beautifull ausie elegance at my local lfs that is like 12" across. It is huge
