Auto feed frozen food?

Hello everyone:

I want to know if there are some automatic feeder that can feed frozen brine shrimp? I am usually not at home so I must use automatic feed to feed my fish.My fish eat brine shrimp only ,Thanks!

Yes there are a couple of ways to do it. Probably the most practical way at this time is to use a mini fridge and dosing pump, along with a magnetic stirrer and flask inside the fridge. Due to the size of the brine shrimp you will have to clean your tubing more often than normal, or stick with baby brine like I do. My fish eat all day even when I am on vacation :) Also great for getting new fish to eat.

It doesn't have to be this complicated you just need a small fridge and a single mixing station and pump.

Check out the feeding sticky in the non-photo forum for more info.

So great! uhuru:The brine shrimp is frozen,Do you connect the food with a icebox or how to keep the frozen brine shrimp's temperature?

How do you get the tubing outside of the fridge? And how do you plug in the electronics - dosing pump, magnetic stirrer?

Holes he drilled in the fridge.

I will be doing something similar to this, 1 out of a modified wine coolerfor my future nps tank and a small one out of 6 bottle wine cooler for my main tank, I like to feed my fish 6-10x a day but cant always be home so I will use the auto feeder to feed when Im gone, hopefully this will also help to keep my fish from swimming up to the corner of the tank waiting for food when I walk by the tank(I hate this it looks very un-natural)

Im sure it will take some time to dial-in, I will also have to modify my methods for mixing up my frozen food mix, I will more than likley need to weigh it out(except for the cubes) and use the same mount of food and water each day to keep it consistent.

My only issue with PE Mysis is that itโ€™s rather large, making it difficult for small(er) fish to consume.

It sits inside a mini fridge so it stays cool, but still warm enough to defrost the frozen food over time. Basically I fill up the flask with a few cubes of frozen food everyday, along with some powder foods and water. By the end of the day its empty and fish and corals are happy.

What I do is drill the fridge (carefully) and use uniseals to run plumbing from my return line through it:

The dosing pump connects to a venturi. This maintains suction in case the tubing ruptures I don't get spills everywhere. The design is a culmination of ideas from several people and it is one of the best things I've done for my tank.

There are other variations including what you see in the german links above. A small insulated container made of acrylic and an iceprobe drilled into it would also get the job done.

This one has been in development for a while from someone hopefully it'll be ready soon:

I would kill for some way to auto feed Mysis to my tank. It would change having to pay a fish sitter daily to maybe once every 3-4 days.

Thanks all! It's too complicated. I will wait until some company (like LiveAqua) product some frozen auto feed machine. I ask some factory but they don't want to product only one :(
