looking for good top of controller and pump for kalkwasser may be some of you could describe your set up if you have one i have sump in basement so room is not a problem .want to use garbage can for reservoir

How about $170 for the Tunze Osmolator? I don't have one of these yet, but plan to get one. I have heard nothing but praise for this unit. Two reefers that I really respect have told me independently that it is one of the best purchases they have made for their reef tanks.

I'll second the osmolator. I just finished hooking mine up 2 days ago and so far its working awesome. Even with the little pump pushing 6' of head. The optical sensor it uses is awesome I get maybe an 1/8" of deviation in my sump level with it.The brackets they supply with it kinda suck. But aside from that its deffinately worth the money IMO

Run the Tunze Osmolator on both of my tanks and they work great. Use the calcium dispenser in conjunction with the osmolator on the one system also. Never had a problem with either and the water level stays perfect in both and just add water to the top off containers a few times a week.

Im telling you right now, go with the atlas. I have the posedian and short of wearing a condom im protected all the way round as far as any accidents or mishaps. I wish i would of waited a couple of months i would be bragging about the Atlas, now that is protection. The price might be a little steap but you pay for what you get. Oceanussystems all the way

Another option: Gravity Feed

If your situation would allow it, this works great for me. I use gravity and one simple, inexpensive mechanical float:

My tank is in the living room. My RO/DI set-up is in the garage. I mounted a storage tank (10 gallon) in my garage, on a shelf, as high up on the wall as possible (almost to the ceiling). This height is higher than the height that my sump is at.

I ran a simple 1/4" line (50 feet worth) from the bottom of the storage tank in the garage to a basic, manual Kent float valve in my sump. Gravity does the rest.

Once a week, I run my RO/DI unit until it fills the storage tank with fresh water. Then I turn the RO/DI off.

As water evaporates, the water level in the sump drops, the float opens, and fills until the water level in the sump rises enough to satisfy the float.

It works flawlessly. It's cheap. No electronics to fail.

And, as a back-up plan (just in case the float should fail), I don't store any more water in the storage tank than my sump could hold.
