I have been thinking of buying a JBJ ATO device and wanted to get some opinions before I buy. Is this a good unit? Is there a better option? I'd rather not do a DIY on this.
I have a oceanus systems ato and i love it had 2 different one`s from other makers that have let me down i would check oceanus out. www.oceanussystems.com i also seen a post that they have snail guards also.
I'm trying to figure out topping off and delivering kalk water, if I top off using kalk water, is it ok to use something like the osmolator for that purpose? Would the kalk cause any adverse effects to it?

I've had one on my 20L for a couple of months now. I like it. I don't have a sump, so I have the float switch mounted directly on my tank. The other float switch is in the top off water bin to prevent the pump from running dry. I've talked to several folks that have them and so far no big problems other than some omissions in the manual.

top off unit there is.
*has top off pump
*after 15m running will shut off unit
*protect pump, if container is empty
*high level (on sump), will sound an alarm
*no float switch to get stuck (has electronic eye)
*low voltage top off pump, either 9v or 12v user selectable
*tunze reputation, excellent warranty
*can have the reservoir far, I have mine about 29ft away from tank
super product at a competitive price, can be use to top off kalk, and the safety features will save the tank in cases of some issues,
kalk is nothing to play with if you care about the tank, and you don't plan ahead : (
this is the solenoid in my sump...the reserve container sits in a closet behind my tank that is gravity fed to the probe...evaporate 1/2" and it turns on automatically
