i am getting ready to build an auto top off but dont know if i need a pump, how far will an r/o/d/i unit push water i know storeing it then pumping it would be best put iplan on moving soon and dont want to go all out, i was thinking of useing a float in my sump and wireing 24 volt dc and useing a silniod valve N/o switch
and when the level would drop switch would close opening valve will my r/o unit push water up from my basement is what my ? would be, are any of you doing this?

I run a tunze set-up it uses two sensors in the sump for water level and i've got mine running about 20 feet it works great. It's about 180 bucks if i remember correctly.

my ro/di unit is in my basement. I have the out line from it going directly to my sump 80 feet away, even goes up stares. I thought for sure I was going to need to get a feed pump but I thought I try it first and it works fine. The water pushes its way with no problems through 80 feet of line where I have a float value at the end, even ran it behind my running boards. No power what so ever needed.

$99 ebay ro/di unit, $6 of Home Depot water line (80 feet), $20 float value.

my ro manufacturer said within 15 feet. Little did they know. I think they just wanted to sell me a feed pump.

I also think imo the ro unit should push upstairs its under pressure from your main water supply but you might want to check with your ro manufacturer. Good luck :)
