Auto top-off

any suggestions on an auto top-off system for my tank.My tank sits in my living room and my 25 gallon top-off can is about 15 feet away.any suggestions and descriptions will help.thank you

I use an aqualifter to drip kalk/top off. As long as the tub you are using isn't much lower than the tank (or sump), I see no reason why it wouldnt work for you. Here is a pic of mine in action:

i currently am running a float valve straight off of my RO\DI unit. i realize this allows for a huge disaster but right now all i care about is never carrying a bucket. when i have more room i wil devise a top off unit with a limited capacity so that i wont come home to a freshwater reef some day.

how does the tunze system work and how far are you topping off from???

works great, worth the money
the bucket is only 3' from the sump, but it's got about 10'
of hose that comes with it

I'm sure it could go further

my water level never moves more than 1/8"

I purchased a plastic Float Valve from a local tractor supply company. It is normally used for livestock water troughs. I then located my top off water resovoir in a location where it was 'higher' in elevation than my sump/float valve. So I started a siphon from the container and connected it to the float switch. I had to build an acrylic box around my float valve b/c I have numerous snails/urchins in my sump. But overall it works great. No pump needed, no electricity. Just good ole trusty gravity. All in all I spent about $11 for my top off system. The float valve was $7 and the vinyl tubing was $4 I already had the resevoir (rubbermaid trash can).
