auto top off?

OK so I am loosing about 7 gallons a week on my setup, So i am curious on some auto topoff questions

#1 Can the system be placed below water level?

#2 If placed below, will it need a PH?

#3 If it is placed above water level, can it be gravity fed?

#4 what parts and such would i need and where can I get them from?

thanks for the help.

what I want to do is so its in the main tank and when the tank gets below a level it will put water in.

Just for extra water storage so the water stays at a constant level and I only need to refill the container.

I dont have a RO/di unit yet.

Then all you need is a top off unit, a small pump and a reservior, you can get it from autotopoff.com or others online vendors.

Placed the float valve in the main display (or sump) at a level where you like the water to stay constant. Once the water drop due to evaporation the float value will opens and pump water in from the reservior. Just noted that if you place the reservior at tank level or higher make sure to drill an anti siphon hole to stop the water from continuing to pour into your main display after the float value had shut itself off.

If you like we can get some parts together and build one of my systems.
I get my float switches from floatswitches.net and then build a box around that.
I use a Aqua Lifter as the top off pump.
Check out my gallery for my unit(s)

I usually put lighting contorllers on them too, to make an all in one box.

Let me know if you want to meet up and build one.

yeah I would be interested..
:)

Although I think if you maintain your switches (like you should for everything else, KEEP THEM CLEAN) they will never get stuck. (Or at least the kind I have, made out of some really slipery plastic like teflon)

And I also ALWAYS install 2 switches one higher then the other, so if for some odd reason the first fails the second will act as a back up and stop before water overflows.

Anyone got any info?

I was over at irsafaris hous months back when he was still in the hobby.

He had an RODI hooked up to his sump w/ some sort of float valve and soleniod.

He said thereefgeek built it for him.

I would like to build one, but need some info on parts.

Anyone know????

Jim

Sweet. Thanks Warren.

Which valve would you recommend?

Also, are you saying that I can buy the same stuff at another site for 30% less? Or would it be different?

Thanks

Jim
