ATO line is the power line that plugs into the ATO port of my RKE.

This is what the relay looks like:

I also used a large project box and some cable clamps as well as a cheap outdoor power cord to get the plugs and cable, I also bought some plug ends at home depot to connect the pumps.

I should also note that I do a 2 gallon change at one time daily - Its a 220 gallon system roughly so swapping 2 gallons of cold saltwater into the sump has little effect on the overall temp of the tank - especially as it is running when I dump the 2 gallons in.

Also need to note that I can drain 2 gallons of salt water from my sump without making my return pump run dry. Anything more than 3 gallons would cause the return pump to suck a little bit of air. The return pump has an elbow that forces it to suck from the bottom of the sump too.

The beauty of the dual pump is eliminating the need for float switches. But this is indeed a nifty setup. What kind of floats do you use? I am always afraid of them getting gummed up...

the same float I've used for ages, hooks up to the RKE. Infact, I just got a new kit and need to hook that up.

Mike - Do you know if you can disable a port with an APEX when the drain kicks on? I kno wwith my reefkeeper I can set an alarm to disable the ATO port when teh drain kicks on.

Can you do this with an APEX?

If I follow you, yes. You can put in a statement that if a certain switch or outlet is on then off. Shouldn't be too hard.
