any come highly recommended? i'm wanting one that works for flakes too. since all my fish eat flakes and some doesnt eat pellets. or i will just use pellets and the fish that dont eat them, will just miss out...

tagging along , id like to get one also, but Ive been told by several lfs employees , they are a disaster waiting to happen.

I have this one. Don't recommend it. Feeds twice a day with no adjustment for number of times or at what time. Also the design is slightly flawed in that if a large flake is sitting just right, zero food is dispensed. On that note, it did keep my fish alive for a month solid 3 different months (unexpected work out of town. Home for 1 day per month.)

Haven't seen the Eheim before. I'd be interested to see it in action. Or at least see how it operates.... hint hint video hint... ;)

I have thought about getting one with this design. Little separate compartments for each feeding. Seems impossible to over or under feed. Plus you could use it for pellets or just about anything. Can't do that with the other style I linked and the Eheim mentions flakes, so I assume pellets won't work with it either.

I can try to get a video of mine working when the lights come back on. actually I mix pellets and flakes together and it works just fine.

I also kinda crush up the flakes to sizes that I know will fit through the opening so it don't get clogged from one big flake.

How many "servings" does the eheim hold? Is it good for 10 days worth of food for about 8 fish?
Looks like EASILY. The one I use (linked above) looks smaller and can do a month. Of course it would depend on how often you're feeding. If you feed at the max (4 times a day), then obviously it wouldn't last as long.

But, depending on the size of your fish, even once a day is too much IMO.

i use the fishmate. they work great. you choose what to put into each compartment. so, you can feed flakes one day and pellets the next if you wish.
you can also feed every other day. A lot of flexibility.
