automatic water change question

I am on the verge of buying one of the Profilux controllers, and I have a question. I was reading in a thread about continuous water changes, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to implement some version of this.

So, if I had the auto top-off hooked up to the controller, would it be possible to program it to automatically do a water change for me? Stealing an idea from Chrisrush's thread and slightly modifying it, here is what I am trying to do. Program it so that at 11 pm every night, it switches from using the pump in my fresh water resevoir that is used for ATO and instead use a pump in a new salt water reservoir in connection with the ATO. Then have the controller turn on a small pump like maxijet that sits inside the sump for 15 seconds or so, and then the pump new in the new salt water reservoir will fill the tank exactly to the normal line. Then, have the controller switch back over to using the pump in the freshwater reservoir.

Is this possible, or is there another option for automating the water change?

Thanks,
Mark

That is how mine is done..... My ATO shutdown while the water change happens and after the AWC is done comes back on to normal.
Just make sure your buy level sensor assembly!

Thanks for the reply, but I'm a bit confused. Is yours completely run by your profilux controller? Can you describe it for me?

I don't know if I described it very well above, but I am trying to automate the water change so it can happen without my involvement. Basically hook the ATO up to one pump that sits in a freshwater reservoir and one that sits in a saltwater reservoir. During the majority of the day/night it would run just like a normal ATO, replenishing evaporated water with freshwater. But for a short time period every night, have the controller switch the ATO from using the pump that sits in fresh water to the one sitting in new salt water. Then, have the profilux controller turn a small pump in my sump that would pump old water from my tank to a holding tank which would then trigger the ATO to replace the water being pumped out with new salt water. After about 15 seconds or so have the controller turn off the pump sitting in the sump which is pumping out old tank water, and then switch the controller back to using the pump sitting in the fresh water reservoir for ATO.

Every single aspect of my water change is done by the profilux.
Once you have your profilux i'll help set it up.....

Sound great. I was trying to decide between just a stand alone doser and the controller with regular doser. This puts it over the edge. Definitely going the controller route if I can automate water changes with it.
