Avg egg numbers in your Oscellaris nests.

For my oldest pair, she averaged 240 2X/month. Used to get 90% survival through meta. Now she's putting out maybe 75/clutch with 50% surviving. I guess she can be excused though, she's at least 16 years old! I'm in the process of compiling about 5 years of historical data to put up on my site. I'll let you know when that's ready.

I don't count eggs, I sometimes count hatch, but the only thing that matters is fish sold. The last hatch I counted came out to 550 but the camera missed some. I am thinking 600ish.

Nicole used to have "don't count your gobies before they undergo metamorphosis" as her signature line and that's right on.

Once I was deposed for a legal matter concerning the company for which I work. The opposing lawyer would ask me a question, and, sworn to tell the whole truth, I would answer to the best of my ability. Then the lawyer would say, "So you would say..." and then give a paraphrase of my answer. I became increasingly annoyed with her, until finally I stopped being aggreeable, and said, "No. I would not say that!" I asked the court reporter to read the original answer I gave to the question. I told that lawyer that THAT is what I WOULD say, and it is what I did say! I had answered her questions in my own words. How can I respond to her paraphrase and the nuances she was placing on her words, and say it is what I would say? What I would say is what I did say, and my little refusal put an end to her statements/questions that began with the words "So you would say...".

MimicTang, perhaps you have not noticed, but I am careful with words and try not to mislead people by using them in an imprecise manner. And I don't just tell the truth in depositions, I tell the truth all the time.

I don't understand your question, but it seems you are trying to get me to say something for some reason I don't understand either. Or maybe you just didn't read my response carefully. If so, why ask about it? Just read it.

Is that latex, rubber or leather, from here I can't tell.

Methinks he perceived your answer to be 550-600 past meta per hatch as you really only answered one part of his question.
My larger pairs are laying 500-600 every 12-14 days. My smaller pairs are only laying 250-400 every 12-14 days. But I have a tiny freakish pair that lay 150-200 every 8 days. In the heat of the summer they lay every 7 days and often right over top of the cluster that's about to hatch that night, dumbasses.
As for fishies past meta, that's a whole new ballgame. I'm lucky if I'm running at 20% on average.
Different species, different luck.

I'll say it again: The last hatch I counted came out to be 550. That's how many were swimming the morning after hatch. I took a picture and counted what the camera captured.

Bye.

Hi,
I have Black and White Osc. here and they lay about 550 and up like Kathy's. I am also not keen to comment on my survival rate!!
I have more than enough to cover my local market so am not too fussed about raising every last fish. More concentrating on the stronger ones and trying to multitask with other species?
I have a mate who has normal osc and he is up to batch three and I would estimate that there was between 200 and 300 last batch but the hatches are getting bigger!! The first was 50 to 100

cheers
Nathan

MimicTang. You need to read Hoff's book on raising clownfish. It has some very good details and charts and graphs explaining just what it is you are asking. (and some stuff you haven't even thought of or considered yet)

IMO the book is more about the business of rearing fish than it is about actually raising clownfish.
