Awesome find: Blue Hydnophora

First time it was put into the tank, somewhat grayed out. Was much blue-er in the LFS.

This is after it's been in the tank for a few hours, starting to show some more serious polyp extension.

Scored this frag for 30 bucks. It's about 3 inches tall, I am pretty happy with it. I know they're usually more of a bright green, I had to jump on a blue one.

When it isn't expanded you can see the plug, but when it's feeding or fully expanding it puffs out around the bottom creating somewhat of a 'skirt' and envelopes the entire plug. It's pretty neat.

nice find. if you don't have experience with that coral make sure you give it plenty of room. ime hydno is one the most aggressive corals and can kill other corals in very short order. Be careful also because they tend to balloon up substantially during the evening hours...greatly increasing their size.
