Okay, so Saturday is the first CMAS meeting of the new season...

http://www.cmas.net/

If the opportunity to hear Allen LaPointe, Director of Water Systems & Analysis isn't enough to convince you to come to the Schaumburg Library at 1:00 PM, we've got some awesome raffle items for you to win!! :D

Thanks to the generosity of Matt at ShoTank in Mundelein, we have three outstanding raffle prizes to give away to a few very lucky CMAS members......

First, in keeping with the theme of the meeting, we will have a Spectra Pure MPRO25 RO system that'll get you twenty-five gallons per day..... That's about a $200 prize, but there's more!

Second, we have a Hamilton T5 4x54 watt Retro Kit with two blue and two white T5 lamps and two ballasts!! That goes for about $250, but you can get it for free if you are lucky!

As if that's not enough, Matt is offering a $100 gift certificate for the third raffle item. Spend it on dry goods, livestock or whatever you want at ShoTank! :D

If you haven't been to ShoTank lately, you need to take a drive to Mundelein and see what they've got! I saw three beautiful Carpet Anemones (blue & purple) for UNDER $100 each! Or you can take a look at the great variety of fish and corals!

Here's a few photos to "wet" your appetite...

I took photos of the raffle items and will try to upload them tomorrow! BTW, if you haven't joined CMAS yet, you can do so at the meeting for only $15 annually. We've had several brand new members win at past meetings, so come on out and join us!

See you on Saturday!!! :)

Why oh why do meetings come up on days I planned to be out of town MONTHS in advance. Seriously though I wish I could be there but I am going out of town with the wife for our Anniversary on Saturday.

Any chance of pay-paling for some raffle tickets?

Adam

Adam, Sorry about that! I also have an anniversary coming up and we're going to dinner Saturday night, but it's just a matter of priorities! LOL

Hope the spouse appreciates your sacrifice!

I would LOVE to be at the meeting, but I have too much stuff going on Saturday. I think my membership expired while I was deployed to Afghanistan. We can renew that online, right?

Been divorced once. Not getting the raffle prize is much cheaper!:D

Hello Boyd
Will you have the door prize's tomorrow, or will they need to be picked up at Matt's? THANK YOU Matt for the generous gifts, We at CMAS truly appreciate it.

Doug,

Sorry, Matt couldn't trust me to hold the raffle items!

They will need to be picked up in Mundelein, which is well worth the visit anyhow!

See you tomorrow!

Boyd

Thank you to everyone who attended! :D

We had 35 members attending with three guests! That was a great turnout and it was definitely worth it! Allen is a great speaker and showed lots of slides, but it was his enthusiasm and easy-to-understand talk about water chemistry that made it. Its nice to know that even chemistry experts have water issues from time to time! ;)

Thanks again to Matt at ShoTank for the awesome raffle items. Here's the list of winners:

1. Coral Marine Aquarium magazine - Patrick Kelly
2. Spectrapure RO system - Jim Memije (*New Member)
3. Hamilton 4x54 T5 Retro Kit w/ lamps & ballasts - Joe (Fishman) McAloy
4. $100 ShoTank Gift Certificate - Joe McMahon (*New Member)

Congratulations to the winners and thanks to ShoTank and to Allen LaPointe for a great 2006-07 kick-off meeting!

I wanted to thank again Matt from Sho Tank in Mundelein for providing the nice prizes for the raffle. I visited Sho Tank today and met and talked to Matt about my current situation in recently buying a Spectrapure 5 stage system and he was kind enough to give me the equivalent of the RO system as a gift certificate($150). Very cool.

The store tanks are gorgeous and crystal clear. Well kept systems I must say. There were a couple beautiful 6" sohol tangs, a 4" blue throated trigger, and many other beautiful fish. The coral tanks had nice pieces as well. The main SPS tank carried many gorgeous, symmetrical, aquacultured colonies, bright colors, and a great mix. I beleive he said that all of the colonies were priced at $50 most being 3" around. Great deal. Surprisingly there was a freshwater section kept equally as well as the saltwater. I highly recommend the store and it is well worth the drive. Thanks Boyd for setting this up.

Today I picked up a beautiful Pink Pocillipora damicornus colony, a 1" squamosa(I know they are tough and I promise I will feed it regularly), and some Red Reef Food. I still have almost half the raffle prize to spend. I can't wait to go back.

Thanks again CMAS!!!
