Awesome video showing how sponges pump water with fluorescent dye

This is a great video that gets amazing at the 5:40 mark when he starts to put fluorescent dye around the base of sponges. What happens a few moments later is truly breathtaking! At a minimum it will show you where to aim when you target feed but more importantly it just looks cool.

(Could somebody please embed the video, I can't get the link on a mobile device)

Enjoy

Excellent video. Now someone needs to bottle up fertilized sponge eggs so we can seed our aquariums!

I saw this video on Reddit the week. I was amazed at the speed the sponge was processing water. Do you think owning a similar sponge could act as a natural filter? I wonder if that type of sponge requires silicates.

Those sponges require lots, and lots of food. They tend to be difficult to keep in captivity as our water tends to be too clean for them...in terms of planktonic food.

Wow they really do pump mass amounts of water through them. I have always wondered how much they really move. Thanks for posting the video I have learned something today.
