That's not a picture, tell him that's a Portrait. Well balanced lighting, perfectly centered, great coloration, full polyp extension and the contrasting greens with the purple coralline algae is phenomenal. Seems like you can almost reach through the glass and touch. I take that back, what glass. Two thumbs up.

Mooch

i let him know about the feedback, maybe he'll chime in on his new camera. i agree. my jay dropped when i saw this picture.

Thanks for the compliments. I just wish my colony of blues on the other side of the tank was doing as well.

For those who care (warning: camera nerd stuff following), I used my new Canon XTi with the kit lens, 1/4s f/16 ISO 200. It was on a tripod, and taken with the timer to minimize movement. That colony is about 2 inches from the front of the tank, which I had cleaned, inside and out, about 20 minutes before taking the picture. Post-processing was done in Adobe lightroom, where I cropped, lowered the exposure slightly, recovered some highlights, increased contrast, and made some very minor adjustments to saturation and vibrance. However, I'm embarassed to admit that I forgot to fix the color temperature: the camera's auto-white balance just can't handle 20,000K lighting, and set it at 6900K, which means that there's a bit of a blue cast in the picture that's not apparent when actually looking at the tank. The zoos are actually more of a pure green instead of a blue-green.

As for framing it, I'm flattered, but I'm not sure it's that good. If anyone does want it though, I've put up the full size jpg.

More of what? That's currently the best-looking thing in my tank. But, I'll see what I can do.
