Last night my Wife and I went back to the store for the first time since getting seriously irritated with the previous managment.

I had an extremely pleasent experience. the store was looking good the fish seemed healthy. There were some stocking issues but, the new manager was very reasonable and purchases were made. I'll be back.

Yeah, I have to admit it looks like they're on the upswing. The new manager I thought was extremely personable and I found myself liking him a lot.

who's the new management?

they started w/ cheap prices and now they're sky high!

they have no knowledge neither. no one knows anything about the corals they sell - just great! they don't even acclimate fish/corals - just throw bags in tanks, then cut them w/ a knife and throw the fish/corals in and here you go!

everytime i went there they seemed desperate - "here get it now for $ - we need money now to pay whatever". very unprofessional!

their price on live rocks doubled too.

don't give me wrong, it's a nice looking store with few things to choose from, but management wise they are horrible. you never know what prices will be until you're there- I am sure the IRS would love to shop there!!!!!

sick and tired of these stores bsing us all. stick w/ the honest ones!

If you wish to save your other account here, I expect an email explaining why you had to hide behind this alternate screen name to bash this store.
My username@ReefCentral.com. If I don't hear from you, I'll ban both accounts.

reef2fish... you make me want to go in there and check it out... see what all the hype is about (good and bad)

also signing up on a bogus account and hiding behind a screen name with no history and one post doesn't lend you any credibility

reef2fish...Very unfair and unethical comments. I shop at several differnet LFS and I do not have any personal interest in any of them.

I've been in this store many times and never expericened or witnessed your claims.

The LR appeared equally priced or lower than many others. Keep in mind the cost of transporting rock and fish has dramatically increased in the last several months. Also the tonga rock is in limited supply.

I've watched other LFS add new fish to their tanks in the same manner you chastised this one for doing.

I've even seen other stores reduce pricing on items to encourage the customer to take advantage now rather than wait for later. I do not see a problem with it. Business can be promoted in many different ways.

What does IRS have to do with pricing items to sell. This appears to be a personal agenda hatchet job.

My object for this post was to say that even though I had been seriously disgruntled with the store in the past, I feel that the change in management has made a world of difference, enough to make me want to give them a second chance. I didn't mean to start another 5 page long gripe session.

I think everyone except that reef2fish guy got that. It's good to give stores a second chance when changes are made.

seems to be a lot of that going on around here lately!
how hard would it have been to just say what they did using their 'real' screen-name - now they are 'moved on' (twice over!)

glad to hear this store might be saved after all!
sounds like your 'experience' was similar to ours (regarding previous mgmt)... thanks for the update.

regards

Larry, if you poke back in here, I just wanted to say thank you for the job you do moderating. I know it can be a thankless task.

I believe that the new store manager is a fellow FRAG member Brian "ZMAN7000"

I drove over yesterday and he has the store looking ship shape.

The store is definatly looking much better! (and the tanks much better!!!)

Spent a good bit of time in there chatting with Brian today - and was very pleasant!

The thinking here is obviously something along these lines:

"I know! I can't bash the store using my account because it might be banned. I'll just create a new user name and they'll NEVER know!! What's an IP address?? Probably means 'incompetent packaging address!'"

You have less than 12 hours now......

I went into AZSB on Saturday and had much the same experience as everyone else. New manager was pleasant, knowledgable and seems to want to make the store a success. This is not intended as a negative to previous management, I have not personally had any issues with anyone in AZSB. New manager is even bringing in stock from his own tank.

I really think that those of you that have had a negative experience in the past should give the store a second chance.

Just bought some replacement hqi's and pc's there Friday. Prices there are competitive to online prices. Plus you don't have to wait :)

first mistake: ever going to an lfs and expecting them to give you info on corals. even the ones that give good info are still trying to sell things... and you can't blame them for that.

I would never go to a used car salesman expecting honest advice about the cars he sells. that'd be silly.

AZSB is a reasonable store. They've matched pricing with others to get my biz.
Still have one of the best prices in town on lr.
still have some of the best prices in town on small frags.

something fishy about how 'out to get them' you are.

I don't really agree with that. The best fish stores in town have good info on their corals. There were plenty of times, especially when I was new to the hobby, that someone like Skip recommended avoiding certain corals for awhile. I've had some luck at Aquatouch as well when a new coral arrives that I've never seen or heard of. A good store with knowledgeable employees don't want to just sell stuff to see it taken home and killed right away.

I do agree that doing one's own research on what types of fish and corals they want to have is very important and the safest way to go. I personally like to use the knowledge and experience here on RC to make educated purchases.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize I sounded like I was saying all fish stores offer bad advice... that's not true at all. My point was only that I would never buy anything w/o getting some independent advice first.
