Azure Damselfish+ Clownfish+ dwarf angel (40b)

Hi,

So I have been looking at 40 gallon breeders lately and I am trying to stock it. So the fish I have been liking and looking at are the Azure Damselfish, ocellaris clownfish, and dwarf angels like the flame angel or the pygmy angel but I am not sure if these fish can go together or not. If one of the fish (like the flame angel) cannot go in the a 40b let me know so that I can upgrade if needed and still let me know though if the fish can go together. If everyone could share their opinions that would be great. Thanks :)

In the 40 Gallon you would be better off with the pygmy angel over the flame angel, or you can try the flameback angel.
If you are only planning to keep these 3 fish, you should be good in a 40 breeder.

They should work out. The azure, btw, will use Formula 2 food, in preference to Formula 1, while the clown will be the opposite, I think; Not sure on the angel. The azure may be a bit 'hotter' than the clown, but it's a tossup. If the clown gets a mate, I'd bet on the clowns.

Sorry kinda confused on this haha

Yes. The clown, if mated, will become considerably more aggressive, and while the azure is usually a pushy little fellow toward other damsels (the clowns ARE damsels) he will lose out against a pair.

Oh ok now I see. Well if I did get them I planned on getting more than one azure. Maybe like 5?

That is a lot of fish for a 40G, I thought you meant one of each in your initial post. If you want a small angel in there, I would not suggest too many other fish

If you added 5 azures, I'd just about bet you'll end up with one again: damsels will reduce their own numbers until they fit the space, and most damsels take 100 gallons to be comfy. The azure, as one of the smallest, can get along in a 50, solo, and I'm thinking could tolerate a 40, but not much more than that.

As long as you're talking about one angel, one damsel, and one clown - it should work. You should even have enough room for a blenny or YWG.

Your intended list matches my current stock: flame angel, Chromis Scotti, and bicolor blenny.

Before the chromis I did have two clowns. About 6 months ago the small male clown managed to get into the skimmer's surface skimmer and not quite into the pump. I picked up the chomis shortly after. Everything was hunky-dory until the female clown "escaped" a couple of days ago while I was at work. Little bummed because I've had her for about 4 years.

I have seen (and still do see) some mild chasing of the chromis by the angel and the angel sometimes "flashes" to the blenny. The weird thing is that all the fish sleep in the same rock pile and the flame angel rounds everyone up when it's bedtime.
