B&W pair not eating...what do you feed your clowns?

Well they've been out and about for the past two days, which is why I didn't post any video. Still not eating but I'm about to feed in a little while.

The female has had two things on either side of her that look like scratches. They look like they might be infected a little. I've been dosing vitachem and selcon directly into the tank, hoping that they ingest some of it. The male has very faint lines in the same spots as the female, but no apparent scratches or infected tissue (read, no white bumps). I'm thinking maybe lymphocytis, which from what I've read are not treatable correct?

Photobucket really ruins the pics when downsizing. Anyone know of any hosting sites that don't have a maximum file size/dimension?

Oh yeah, I tried 4 more types of food to no avail yesterday. Prime reef and formula two flake, formula one frozen, and marine cuisine.

I feed all my clown ORAGlow even my wild caught will eat it.

If tank raised you should not have any problems

^ Those are pellets you can get at Petco right? I saw those, but they didn't touch the hikari pellets, so I didn't try the ORA.

Its looks to be something related to the lateral line of the fish, possibly lateral line disease.

The fish are very nice though, keep working at them and hopefully they come around. You could also try Rod's Food, you can get it at Just Pets and all fish seem to love it.

Rods food is like an all-in-one thing right? I tried the all in one mix that you guys made at Fred's a couple months ago, and nothing touched it. Not even the cardinal. I just picked up some ora glow so hopefully it goes well, but I'm crossing my fingers.

Never thought of lateral line disease...I've never had that with any of my fish before, and for some reason I've always associated it with tangs. I'll have to look into how to treat it. It does seem to be getting better though. That pic was from tuesday.

I'm not sure you can get the ORAGlo from Petco.

It is from http://www.orafarm.com/

It can be bought online.

Might be at Petco but not sure

That is what the package looks like

My clowns have always really liked the frozen mysis shrimp. Also, formula one frozen and oraglo pellets. I've never had issues with mine eating. Good luck with yours, I hope they make it

Ex82nd - Yep that's the stuff that I got at petco. At first the female was eating every piece that went into the tank. But she was taking a piece, chewing it a little, spitting some out, then taking the smaller piece she just spit out and doing the whole process over again. The pieces were either too big or too hard. So I went downstairs to soak the pellets in some selcon and vita-chem, and when I came back she wouldn't touch it. So I then tried some plain oraglo again and she wouldn't touch that either.

Hopefully these guys will start to eat once they get really hungry. Either way, I'll be stocked up on food for the next six months.

Well the male died last night. He jumped ship into the overflow and ended up in the filter sock in the sump. Never had a fish do that or carpet surfing yet, so I guess there's a first time for everything.

I'd imagine that the female might be pretty stressed after losing him, so I'm not sure her chances are very good at this point considering she wasn't eating to begin with. Guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks. I've got some stuff at home. Guttergaurd and eggcrate. I'll try to make something that doesn't cover the entire tank tonight. The problem is that my overflow is glass, so I can't just drill a hole in it and ziptie something to it. I might just end up having to cover the entire tank with eggcrate, and watch my sps/clams closely and see how they react...

That's good to hear because I use T5 also. I'll just make it easy for myself then and do a cover for the whole tank. Thanks for the input.

Well the female is eating finally. Has been for 2-3 days now. When I first start to feed her and she's starving she'll eat the oraglow. After a few pellets though she'll get tired of it and then I'll switch to brine soaked in selcon and vita-chem. She also picks at frozen formula one, but not much. Hopefully she'll start eating mysis and marine cuisine soon! I've also seen her eating pods...I think she decimated the population in the display!

Great!

No one pointed this out to you that I caught... but if it is in fact lateral line issues, boost her intake of Vitamin C now that she is eating.
I also keep Discuss and have run into this problem with them.

Are there any strictly vitamin C supplements? Or just things like vitachem, zoe etc...

I'll check out Drs F&S quick, but I'm at work on my pda so it might take me all night.

What do you use for vitamin C?

I ordered some Marine C and garlic extreme last night, so it should be here thursday or friday. Thanks. :)

I tried cyclopeeze but I think it's too small, nothing touched it.
