Babies Born

COMAS Rocks!
My male Bangaii Cardinal released his babies last night, I don't know how I managed to see such a tiny thing swimming around but spoted one in the rockwork and cleared the tank out, and managed to get 12 of them into isolation before they became food. I know at least of 2 others that helped feed a couple of fish though. I did manage to get lot's of good pictures with my brothers digital camera so once I get those uploaded in the next few days I'll post em for ya'll.

They babies came a bit early so I didn't have any brine shrimp hatched, I got some going last night but It'll be later today before they hatch enough to feed the little tykes. Hopefully this won't harm them to bad. I'll keep everyone posted and try to get these pics asap.

You guys are going to love these pics too, my girlfriend walked in on me in my undies doing the whole "model photo shoot" thingy with the fish: "yeah, swim like a champ, tilt you're head a little that way, that's it, you're a shark, shark I say, show us that mean face!" *click click click.

Now that just leaves me chilled for some reason.....

Left me chilled too, the only a/c in the house is a small window unit next to the fish tank. :D LOL!

I should warn you, beware of reflections when taking fish tank pics in less then full attire. I am sure I wouldn't have any experience with that. But do be warned....

And thanks for sharing. We can all go take cold showers now.... (I feel so dirty!!!)

Oh, man! I didn't even think of that, I had best double and triple check these photo's first, lol. That could have had the potential to be very embarrasing.

Serra, what are vinegar eels? I've heard of them and seen a few pics but still not sure whats up with em.

Vinegar eels are actually named turbatrix aceti and belong to the phyla nematoda (nematodes). They are free-living, non-parasitic unsegmented roundworms and were discovered by Borellus in 1656. They eat bacteria and fungi that grows in unpasteurized vinegar solutions.

I wouldn't keep the fry on them for very long but you can keep a culture around forever so you wouldn't be without food in an emergency.

I don't think they would live long in the salt water but they just have to live long enough to be eaten...it might be something to try.

You would have to rinse them well to get all vinegar off so as not drop the pH in a small fry tank.

They aren't that hard to kill when you knock the bottle over :( I kept meaning to tell you that I lost my culture, but I kept forgetting. I'll have to get another culture started.

Gerald or Sheryl, do either of you have any nutritional information on the HUFA levels?

That really sucks Travis, but have no fear, I will be more than happy to get you another starter. I'm sure I'll have plenty extra come next meeting, or if you are going to be in OKC area just let me know.

Herpchat, could I get one of those vinegar eel starters from you at the next meeting? Please.

??? How are you going to have plenty of vinegar eels at the next meeting when you will be getting them at the meeting

I was referring to the phyto. Did you knock over the phyto starter I gave you or did you knock over a eel starter from herpchat? I'm a bit ditzy like this so bare with me please.

 I knocked over my vinegar eels. My N. oculata is still in the refrigerator.
