:bounce2: Clown eggs just hatched, Thanks kathy for larval trap, worked great, Had a little problem getting larva from trap down to grow out tanks but all is good. Approx 100-110 larva. Lets cross our fingers, hope all make it ...

Yeah, ya gotta watch out ya don't spill them thru that hole in the box. That's a good harvest!

Thanks for posting. I was wondering how it went for you. Congrats! you're a grandpa!

Cheers,
Kathy

I am on day 5 no deaths yet, but i am getting worried rots are starting to get thin! Keep our fingers crossed, I am going to start with baby brine shrimp today .

NO DEATHS! that is fantastic!

In the rotifer culture, keep feeding the rots and aerating them. They should start to take off now that the weather is warmer. And since you have been harveting a lot to feed the babies, the ones left are young and reproducing. You should be fine. You only need them for a couple more days. If your larvae take to the bbs very quickly, you can stop taking rots to feed clownfish, and let the culture replenish.

Congrats!:)

I have a large hatch that are in metamorphosis now, and another that hatched last night. Gonna run out of tanks soon....

Wow, you have some prolific clownfish! Do you have any pics to share? Good luck w/ the next hatch.

Possibly fed bbs too early, do the dead ones look like their stomaches have ruptured? In other words are the bellys sunken in?

have you got your air pump turned right up as i have found by day 5 or 6 they need more air if not they seem to die overnight hope this helps
kenny

Yes I would suspect low O2 or feeding too early. I have found that percs do not tend to overeat like clarks. Turn up the air.

Increase your rotifers temp by a few (1-3) degrees to kick them into a higher gear. Be careful though, rotifer cultures become less stable at elevated temps.

I run my "L" strain rotifers at about 84 degrees, which is warmer then most, but they are constantly reproducing.. I noticed one tank was always taking an extra day or two to "mature" for harvesting, checked the temps, and voila! It was 2 degrees lower then my other two rotifer cultures (all three were started with the same rotifer culture)..

I wish I could give more insight on the perculas.. I've only been successful so far with ocellaris and black ocellaris. My two percula spawns were both lost, I think due to overaeration.. Will try again in two weeks :)

Gotta go pull an ocellaris tile now.. They should be hatching tonight :)

They are eating baby brine now, I did turn up the air a bit, I hava only lost about 5-6 more the others seem to be doing fine, fat and eating like pigs.
