Baby Cleaner Shrimp Everywhere.

Someday these will be ORA cleaner shrimp! By any chance did you take videos? It's probably a lot harder to take, especially in the dark.

This is what I do when im lucky enough to find my shrimp releasing babies.

a) Turn off the pumps
b) Suck the babies into my turkey baster
c) Target feed my corals

Wow!!!! How fascinating that is man. Hope you go all the way through with it and start breeding them . If so please keep us informed on as how you are doing it and the progress of doing it :bounce2:, Thanks for sharing, and best of luck with this

Ok well it's 5:30 a.m. I just woke and saw that the other cleaner shrimp had it's babies tonight. I'm getting cleaner shrimp spawns about every week. :)

Here are new pics of this batch from just now. I wanted to show you guys some of my purple death and nuclear green paly's eating them. I'm amazed with the live capture ability of proto plays. The baby shrimp just touch the skirts of the palys and they are done.. Note: These pics are from this spawn, not last weeks.

The shrimp? Nothing yet, havn't tried doing anything with them yet. All I do right now is make them follow a flashlight, right into my corals :)

Maybe some day I will try to raise them. They do this about every two weeks. my corals were pretty happy last night though! I have a bright l.e.d. flashlight, and they would follow it all around the tank. So I bounced the light from chalice to chalice, palythoa to palythoa, acan to acan.. It was easy pickings for them :) Watching how chalices and acans catch live prey is amazing.. One of my chalices caught about 100 in a slime ball that was completely invisible. Then it slowly "reeled" them in to the mouths. The acans reached their long feeding tentacles out and when a shrimp touched them it almost seemed to get zapped by the acan and very quickly enclosed into the mouth.

That...is...awesome. Great idea.

Another spawn just now.. We just got home and I peaked in the tank with the l.e.d. flashlight, got on the comp and posted in Davids thread, turned back around to the tank and thousands of shrimp are everywhere, again! I cannot believe they spawn this much, but whats really crazy is, I've witnessed the last 3 spawns. One every week.

hmmm this is interesting i have a pair of pepermint shrimp in my tank and have been seeing these things everywhere in my sumpand tank at lights out. i assume there the same they follow the light as u describe but i dont have a camera to take pics good enough so that we can compare the two

:) wow- you must be doing something right for them to keep spawning like that!!! :sad2: makes me miss having a tank :sad2: When I had my fresh water tank set up I raised some molly's that lived, it was so much fun :)
