Baby mantis growth?

Hey everyone. So I'm looking in my tank tonight with the flashlight, and lo and behold, what do I spy? A baby mantis. 1/2 of an inch long, running around my rock with a big *** pod in its mouth. It's still clear so its hard to really tell what it looks like. How fast do most species grow on average? I was just wondering how long before I can give it its own tank.

At 12 mm, a gonodactylid will grow about 10% in length each molt and they can molt every month. In six month the animal should be around 20 mm. As they grow, the frequency of the molt slows. In a year it should be about 25 mm - assuming that it is a species that grows to 60 mm or so.

Thanks for the info Gonodactylus, I'm looking forward to this guy terrorizing my tank. They are strictly carnivores right? I dont have to worrie about any coral damage?

No worries about coral damage from a guy this small. Occasionally as they grow bigger, they may occupy a cavity next to coral and "modify" it.

I thought I heard someone say a peacock went after an anenome...but didnt kill it, possibly stealing food from it, and Ive seen pictures of them burrowing rocks covered with zoanthids...I have some corals in Mitch's tank and he doesnt even pay attension to them

My ternatensis attacked an anemone (Bummer that she deson't do so with aiptasta...), One of my O scyllarus (Peacocks) did mig another anemone for the food bits that I fed it,yes.
