Baby Mantis -- Maybe!!

I was going through my 5.5 gal nano and came across a really surising sight. I'm not sure if it's a mantis but it's about 4-5 mm (maybe smaller) and it's built a really shallow tunnel about 2-3 cm long with one side against the glass wall. The tunnel is not deep at all and is about 1mm below the surface of the sand bed. That's how I saw it I guess. Appears to be brown-dark brown with a creamish yellow line across one of the abdominal segments closer to the telson. I'm guessing it was the telson, but it also could be closer to the head. It kept turning itself in the burrow (the way mantes usually do in a constricted space) so I'm not too sure. I'm wondering if I've got a L maculata or some other species of a burrowing mantis. Most spearers seem to do this from what I've read. The question I have is what mantes build tiny burrow when they're very young. I'll post pics as soon as I'm able to get a clear one.

It could be an Amphipod, I'm gonig to have to check tonight and see if the telson area is clear enough to rule out an amphipod as the tail sections are quite different
