FWIW, getting rotifers ramped up quickly can be tough, order them ASAP or search them out locally.
Here's one other note, I cannot personally verify as I haven't tried it, but I've heard that clowns can sometimes take brine nauplii as early as the morning post hatch, if not the start of Day 2. You'll lose a LOT, but some can be done. BY NO MEANS ANY GUARANTEE, and with my Onyx Percs, well, 4 batches and currently 7 viable juveniles to show for my efforts....I guess don't worry too much if you botch this batch, there will be more to screw up too!
To really get a self-sustaining setup for live feeds to rear one or two broods at a time takes about a month IF everything goes well...I'm talking culturing your own phyto as well as the rotifers. Most folks don't seem to be doing that, instead relying on the algae pastes. Just have to weigh your options...they probably both cost the same to get started with, but my personal theory is that phyto pastes are "dead"and can decay/pollute if not eaten...live phyto doesn't have that "overfeeding" issue.
Good luck!
