While transferring my fish and corals back into a 125g tank I notice what I thought was a "lesion" on the stalk of one of my leathers. After closer investigation I found a "baby" RBTA. It is the size of the tip of my baby finger and all bubbled up. I already have 3 RBTAs that clone constantly. Since I received the original earlier this year it must have cloned 5 times already not counting the 3 in the tank now. I transferred the baby into the bigger tank and it settled in and finally went into hiding under a overhang, lights might have been too bright, but I could still keep track of it. It finally came out yesterday and seems to be doing great. Sorry I don't have a picture - don't have a camera right now.
I thought that RBTAs only propagated by cloning. I didn't know they produced babies, or could it be that one of the clowns nipped on a tentacle and that became the baby that I have now. I just read on another site that leaving a bit of the foot can be just enough for regeneration. I did have a clone where the foot tore when I tried to move it - maybe this is a regeneration from that? But that was a couple of months ago - although I don't know how long the baby has been in existence.
