ok i have a ton of snails in my tank and there have been many many eggs hatching weekly. there are a few snails on my crocea but not sure if they are a problem. are normal baby snails irratating and stressful for the clam just like the pest snails are?

can you post a pic of the snails? Pyramid snails eat clams so we need to find out what kind you have. You can also go to www.reefkeeping.com this month mbbuna wrote a great article on pyramid snails.

i can't get a picture right now, but i did read the reefkeeping article and they don't look like those snails in color at least, it's hard to tell because they are so small. they look like baby astrea cerith and nerite snails like the rest of the snails in my tank so im pretty sure that that is the kind of snail that they are, my main question is whether those snails will pester or stress the clam in any way. it also shouldn't have pyramids because i got it from diver's den and they QT their stuff for a month or so

If it is not pyramid or whelk snails you shoud be fine, and they shouldn't bother the clam.

Now if the clam is stressed and dieing the snails will take the oppertunity to do thier job and clean up the decaying carcass. If you do see snails eating your clam it is probably already dead.
