Baby Suns!

I have seven of these that I have located through out the tank. They are very good eaters. Have been targeting them w/ baby brine and chopped mysis. They readily take anything that lands on them from flake to target feedings. I am assuming that my sun coral must have spawned over christmas at the exact time the return pump on the refugium on the old 29 gallon went bad. Gave them a two week period to settle in.

I notice bright orange/yellow balls that sometimes fly around my tank. Guess they are sun coral babies in the making.

I never noticed the spawning as I assume it happened late at night. I think what helped was that the overflow was shut down, because the return pump on the refugium went bad over Christmas. It took several weeks to order a new one from the LFS due to the holidays. I am sure there are more that I might have missed and probably a few that died after the move. Most are smaller, but the one in the pic is the largest and best eater. Guess, I am just a proud Mama showing off her babies...lol

I think I saw a video on u-tube somewhere of a sun coral spawning. Video was not very good and the eggs could barely be seen, but you could tell that something was happening.

Very cool, congrats! Now feed those babies!

I had them spawn in a little desktop nano I had set-up a while back. I would remove the colony from the nano and place it in a tupperware and feed the heck out of him at least every other day. Couple months later there was tubastrea growing off fo random places on the rock and the glass!
