ok i got a few babylonia (well thats what they told me) from the pet store. was told great for sand. amazing guys. about an inch each and they move fast and bury themselves completely in the sand and when i feed fish they jump out...REALLY fast!
Well the question is....reef safe??????
have clowns, blenny, serpent star, mushrooms, nausius snails, hermits. and im getting more corals.
any help would be great.
thanks,
ryan

p.s. this is what their shells look like. guess its a type of conch

They're grouped with the same superfamily as murexes, not conchs which are herbivores. These guys are opportunists. They seem perfectly content to scavenge for a living, but they're also known to hunt small inverts, so they aren't entirely reef safe. Most people find that they aren't much of a problem, but I wouldn't recommend them.

Agreed. Some people have no problems with them, others are shocked when they attack and kill other snails or clams that they've coexisted with for months.

Cheers,

Don
