Thanks to everyone that came out. I had a good time and saw alot of familiar faces from the last 2 events up there.

Yes the attendance was low but it was mother's day.

So far I have attended Every CFM Event and will do the same this year. We have the NW-CFM and the DA-CFM still

It was a pleasure meeting you and trading corals. Hope to see ya next time around!!

BTW, what is the name of that Dark Purple acro with the Neon green polyps I got from you? That piece is killer!!

I am pretty sure (sorry long day of no sleep makes no memory) it was an ORA Marshall Island Purple w/ Green. (old Marshall Island Tri color) Put a pick up and I will confirm it.

Todd, Oh Man, I didn't see that one at your booth...darn, I have been wanting to get that Marshal Island ORA piece for a while. Good score to those that got it :).

Mark, I am patiently waiting for "BOTH" corals(I have two spots picked out), If I am guessing which one Richard is referring to , lol...I could be guessing wrong though, hehehe.

:D I am glad you have two spots open. I might be able to find a couple "fillers" for you.

I am looking forward to seeing how our chalices look in person as well as jump starting my favia collection

Todd, how did BACFM compare to other CFMs? Any ideas on improvements?

BA-CFM is not far behind the SW - CFM. This years biggest problem was that it was held on Mother's Day. Especially considering this hobby is heavily Male. Last years BA-CFM was very large and it compared closely to this years SW-CFM.

The NW-CFM held in Portland was very small compared to the CA events.

I am one of the few vendors who doesn't sale online (Which I need to start doing) so I value these events to move corals. I am not speaking for other vendors but I have heard some talk that while the CFM's introduce them to new customers, alot of the CFM attendees buy their stuff online already. We need to find ways of reaching the new customer base that is constantly coming into the hobby to attend these events. Clubs and LFS's are the best way to get to these people. There is an obvious conflict for alot of LFS about advertising events that are dominated by online sellers. I personally see a conflict for me but I also see that most of the items sold at a CFM is higher end and not your bread and butter stuff. Clubs have an interesting conflict. Clubs are constantly doing their own frag swaps and do not want the CFM to interfere. CFM are often planned to not conflict with a club event. While most clubs have been extremely helpful according to the CFM Management, there has at times been un intentional conflicts with Club events.

Having some informal educational events at each CFM would also be a help to entice more attendees. Reef Chemistry 101, Lighting 101, Guest speakers would all entice more people to attend. Unfortunately, the target attendees are already well informed in this area. While this might not target the high end reefers, it wil educate more reefers who might be interested in getting involved in these high end corals at future events.

Another large help would be some generated hype through internet bulletin boards. I don't post much on here because the mods do clamp down on any post by a commercial vendor that might be deemed "advertising." I enjoy RC and wish to keep my privileges. I would like to see some club forums "go to bat" for the CFM events so that we may post more in their RC forums.

Mothers day at BA-CFM and NASCAR for the SW-CFM this year :) You can count on Steve and Art changing the dates next year.

I've been to all but the very first and every one just gets better and more organized. It's a fairly smooth running show now :)

well from the website, it looks like the ba-cfm will be in June next year......maybe on father's day :)
