Back from the Frag Fest

I made it back safely, it was a white knuckled ride the last part, blizzard, sleet, rain, more blizzard and then rain. Before I crossed over to Iowa at the last Illinois exit there was a woman standing there in capri pants and a short sleeved shirt, a trucker stopped and picked her up. I didn't see a disabled car anywhere, she looked like she was freezing.

When I crossed over to Iowa on 80 there we a couple cars in the ditch, a semi overturned and a U-Haul that was towing a car way down deep in one of the ditches.

Anyway, I scored several nice zoo frags for $10.00 - $15.00 dollars and met a few new local people and saw a few brave GIRS members. The zoo's are acclimating, then I will dip them. I'll post pics when I get them in the tank.

Also ran into problems getting there and had to bug Billy G. The place wasn't located at the address on the flyer, but over on W. Lane Road.

We also made the trip there and back.... had problems finding the place as well. It is NOT on Forest Rd. like it claimed. I had to call back to Davenport to have my dad look it up.... he in turn told my mom we were there, and that of course triggered the phone calls of the constant checking up, 'get a hotel', etc. We left and grabbed a bite to eat down the block at the McDonalds, then back on the road home by 3:30 or so. Did meet up with Gilespe69 there briefly, nice guy.

Picked up four frags from a guy there. My very first corals..... YAY! They are acclimating right now as well. Picked up a red digitata and a couple other things that I had no clue what they are. lol

Yes, I was one of the 'Iowa cars' with the lights on. :( lol

Hey there, we made it back safe and sound with a new Oceanic Bio-cube size 29!! from the raffle!
I'm glad we braved the weather ;)

DAMNIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats the ONE THING I wanted to win in the raffle! I would have been happy with a 14 gallon one, the 29 would have been the best! I wanted that one more then the big $1200 tank! I didn't win either. :(

Congratulations Kevin. That was a sweet looking tank. It's a good that you stayed. What are you going to do with it?

What kind of car were your driving? When they made the call I thought it was my car, I went out and checked and they were off. Can you post some picks of your coral's?

Here are some pics of my new zoos:D

I also have a palythoa that has not opened up yet. I'll post pics later

You guys are hard core. I had to work for 6 hours today and it took another 20 minutes to deice the car. We did $1800 in sales in 6 hours that is less than a decent hour on a normal saturday. I don't even know why we were open.

Congrats Kevin you seem to have good luck at raffles. What are you going to put in it?

Did you have power when you got home? Alot of central davenport was out for a few hours.

The powers on here, but we've heard from friend in Davenport and Moline who's power is out.

Slovan said I need some colorful zoos in my tank, so here we go. No sundial snails on these.

The white Honda Civic was mine atram. I'm notorious for leaving them on in that car, the stupid thing doesn't ding when you leave them on, only when you leave the key in.

I'll take some pictures of them to post for ID purposes. They are my first corals..... ever! I'm pretty proud of them. Now all I need to do is learn how to take care of them. :)

One of them does look like your green zoo though Atram. I also have a couple of almost branch looking things... I believe they are called digitatas. Unsure of what the third thing is, but it looked cool. lol

When I heard that a Honda Civic had it's lights on I thought it was mine, I have a silver 06 coupe. Check your calcium and alk for the digitata's, they are not really a beginner corals. Also, what kind of lighting do you have? SPS like a lot of light and good water conditions a skimmer is usually a requirement.

Kevin, Nice zoo's should look great in the cube. I was checking it out, should make a nice tank to grow zoos out in. We'll have to do a zoo swap once our zoo's grow out a bit.

I took a few pictures.... clearly I need to hone my skills while taking pics of frags and things in the tank. :(

These are two of the same thing... one just bigger then the other, my youngest daughter the negotiator talked him outta a freebie. :)

There are two things in this picture.... the thing which I believe is a zoo in the sand in the foreground, and the frag attached to the rock sitting on the LR.

I feel like a jackass for not knowing what exactly it is I have though. :( As of right now they are in my 5g nano tank... but I seriously wonder if the lighting is insufficent for them. Its only a 8w powerglow 18000k bulb in there currently. Prolly hit up the DIY forum and see about putting some sort of new fixture in there. I do have (4) 65w PC's on the 75 though... maybe I can put them in there...???!! The digitatas were supposedly fairly easy to take care of... least thats what I was told. Course I could have been told that it was going to be 70 degrees yesterday as well.... :(

I'm so jealous of all you guys that brought home those bright-a$$ bam bams. Kevin those red/green ones look really nice too
