Just thought I'd make a thread for this. We started moving into our new home first week in August, man was it a hot time of year to be moving too. We bought a large 3 story home of which the bottom floor is a huge 3 car garage that I am dubbing as my "man cave". I have my gym set up on one side and then on the other side will be my tank setup and my home office. I picked the tank up last week in Cincinnati. I pre-built the stand so I literally just loaded it out of the back of my truck and put it straight on the stand. This week I have been plumbing it up and moving over livestock from my makeshift 125g. The new tank measures 84x36x36 and is 1" acrylic. Right now tank is bare frame. I am going to do an oak, furniture grade skin but haven't decided on a design yet. I'll get some pics up as I get farther along in the process but I have about 300g of water in it so far and about 500lbs of rock. It will have a 75g sump with a PCX 100 XX as a return pump, with an MRC R2 recirc skimmer fed by a panworld 150 PS.

SWEET
I assume FOWLR? You always have wonderful fish!

As cold as it's been today I almost miss July/August...on second thought not so much.

Tank is set up now. Unfortunately I'm seeing a diatom bloom so looks like it is going to cycle again. I would have thought with about 250g of old water I came up with and the rock I had would have been enough to avoid this. Oh well. Skimmer will be in today so I will get it all plumbed up and running. Overall I am well pleased. I skinned the stand this weekend with oak and am pleased with it. I am goign to build a canopy to match.

Gotta see some pics once its running dude. I know it will be awesome. We still have that shark, a uy I work with told me it was only $50 to a good home.

I tried a shark once before. They cannot compete for food with tangs and triggers. I ended up donating the shark to a much larger shark tank and it is still doing good today. I get fish directly from Hawaii from a diver there. This week I will be getting a 12+" Black hawaaian trigger, a unicorn tang, XL Male Naso with streamers and a XL Lavender tang with adult coloration.

I've got some pics from along the way. What is a good picture hosting program. I use to use photobucket is it still the program of choice?

Here is the tank from when I picked it up last weekend

Will be plumbing skimmer in today. Still undecided on what finish for the stand. The canopy will match the bottom

Never been an advocate for QT. Been at this hobby for a long time and never had an issue. Hospital tanks are on hand if needed.

Let me add that these fish from Hawaii have already been quarantined for 30+ days already. I have bought several fish from this guy and they are always in top health when I get them

Is it Les?

despite the "30+ day QT"...there is a fair amount of stress from the packing, shipping and acclimation...and were they QT'd in NSW?

how big is your 'hospital' tank for 12" trigger, and/or XL tangs?

How does your tank handle being in the garage? I'm thinking about putting my sump in the garage and I'm worried about a temp differential. My attic over the garage isn't insulated. It's does have HV AC vents though.

This new house has some awesome insulation. It took over a year to build and when we were in the garage in the winter as well as summer it stays really close to room temperature. Everything is insulated. Even still it is a gamble with winter and all, but it got close to 100 degrees in the summer since we've been here and the tank only got up to 81 degrees. I'm going to keep a few heaters going this winter for added security.

On another note, this skimmer is unbelievable. I've had an MRC before but it wasn't a recirc one like this is. Love it so far.
