Back of tank

I was wondering what everyone is doing to the back of there tank for background paint them black or blue, leave them clear or one of those fancy pin up backgrouds? i have a overflow centered in the rear of my tank so i was thinking of painting it black. Just wondering opinions on what gives the best view from front.

I just used black side of blue/black film from petco. Mostly to block light since back wall gets covered by rock and stuff growing on the glass like coraline and algae.

I personally regret not doing a foam back. I have a black back which looks great when its perfectly clean. Not a reality in my system. My back wall has a lot of coraline on it but it isn't consistent .

Good to know. The good thing about the paint i used peels off pretty easy. Is coraline that cotton candy looking algea seen at most lfs here in town?

Yes, Coraline is pink in color and looks like it would chip off.

My main display is painted black and I used a light blue film on my QT's. I love the look of the black background!

I used the foam background on my 150 gallon tank and regretted it after a year or so. I got all sorts of critters that made there home behind the foam. Mostly little bristle stars. But then I started to have nitrate issues as things found their way into and behind the foam in places...

My 125 has the foam back, but unfortunately is deteriorating slowly. I don't know if it's due to an aggressive CUC or bad foam.

I don't know why the go to color is always black. I know it shows off the fish and corals well, but I think I am going to go with a dark dark blue background next tank. I haven't ever seen it done.
