Bacterial Brain Damage

Grizzled & Cynical
Ok, here's a new one for me ....

Bought a couple of dwarf angels, put them in QT. All looked fine. Went on a business trip and when I returned both looked very poorly. Had a whitish cast to the fins (not velvet) and cloudy eyes. Appeared to be bacterial to me, so I treated with Fish Flox. One fish did not survive, the other has appeared to recover, though lost one eye. But it's acting weird and swims a bit erratically (not a swim bladder problem though). It eats, though not as easily as before given the vision problem.

Any thoughts?

I don't think so. Fish looked to have recovered with antibiotic, plus I've had anthias with uronema before and it looks quite different.

Are you sure it just wasn’t an infection in the eye? I could see having one eye causing problems with swimming. It’s odd it was done to both fish though??

Is fish flox cipro?

Positive, both Angels had dual cloudy eyes and that 'clamped' fins look. All happened over the course of a few days - had to be while I was away otherwise I'd have caught it in time. One fish was in much worse shape. It's odd because I have had fish lose an eye to a bad case of popeye before and they largely seem unaffected. This one just seems a bit disoriented, for lack of a better word.

And, yes, fish flox is cipro.
